30 of the most successful examples of Bulgarian design in the last year were exhibited together

The exhibition, entitled Review of Bulgarian Design Now 2018, which is part of the the Melba Design Festival , brought together for the first time ever 30 examples of Bulgarian product design and ceramics, fashion and textile, graphic design, illustration, jewelry and social design. The participants and the works that were part of Review of Bulgarian Design Now were selected by Studio Komplekt, which has been involved in the field of design for more than 10 years. UniCredit Bulbank is a partner of the exhibition.

The exhibition was officially opened on 8 November at UniCredit Studio by Enrico Minniti, the General Manager and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Bank. Irina Dakova from the Culture Department of Sofia Municipality also delivered an address to the authors featured in the exhibition.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors until 1 December. The visitors will be able to nominate their favorite design for this year.

The works selected under the Product Design and Ceramics Category are those of Konstantin Achkov, Ina Damyanova, Furthermore, tochka&tochka and Elitsa Boneva. What unites the examples is their innovative approach and their strong impact on the design of interior spaces.

The Social Design Category highlights how design can improve the environment and pushes people to think about the validity of the generally accepted norms. Powerful examples presented at the exhibition are the promenade in Varna, Democratos, the Monumental Women Campaign, a system of signposts for wayfaring tourists in the city of Sofia and the Hidden Letters Project.

The projects selected in the Area of Graphic Design are those which showcase the wide application of graphic design in print, the Internet, advertisement, culture, business, production, etc. Participants in this category are Four + Studio, Krasen Krastev, Next DC, Studio Punkt, Gabriela Staykova.

Illustration is an area of design that has developed unprecedentedly in the last few years in Bulgaria, because it gives people both the free rein to express themselves and the opportunity to actively promote the works and their authors in Bulgaria as well as abroad. At Review of Bulgarian Design Now 2018 illustration was represented by Borislava Willnevermadeit, Ti-re, Lyuba Haleva, Kostadin Kokalanov, Rozalina Burkova.

Neva Balnikova, Velislava Bozhinova, Tsetsa Georgieva, the Sphere Project, and Evgenia Tsankova will present jewelry that they have created, the unifying theme being “jewelry seen as a form of creative visual experiment”.

At Review of Bulgarian Design Now 2018 the Fashion and Textile Category will be represented by Stefan Karchev, Mila Chorbadzhieva of Shevitsa, Chopova Lowena, Softer Wilde and Stampa.
