The biggest bank in Bulgaria, UniCredit Bulbank was awarded a special prize overall CSR policy in the annual competition "Socially Responsible Company of the Year", organized by Pari newspaper. The ceremony was held late last night at the Sheraton Hotel in the presence of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of Bulgaria Totyu Mladenov.The companies, which contributed to the greatest extent, according to the criteria of the competition, the application of the concept and principles of corporate social responsibility, were awarded.

The competition features companies in five categories:

• Social responsibility towards employees;

• Social responsibility towards the environment;

• Ethics and responsibility to stakeholders;

• Participation in projects with long-term and community impact;

• Charity.

In the assessment of the jury, based on a detailed questionnaire developed by the consulting firm Deloitte Bulgaria, in each of these categories UniCredit Bulbank was among the leaders and this is why the jury decided to award a special prize for the overall policy on CSR of UniCredit Bulbank. Some of the key criteria by which companies are evaluated include social responsibility to employees and the environment, ethics and responsibility to partners and customers, participation in projects with long-term effect of community, charitable initiatives, strategy, practices and operation of socially responsible projects, and that the companies provide public information.
