In 2011 the support of the Bank to the Bulgarian Red Cross exceeded BGN 181 thousand

UniCredit Bulbank was awarded a Sign of Honour for Charity by the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) in the category “Corporate Partner – Donor“. The award was handed in personally to the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Levon Hampartzoumian by the Chairman of the Bulgarian Red Cross Hristo Grigorov.

The award for corporate partner – donor was won thanks to the donations by payroll of the bank’s employees as well as to the contribution of UniCredit Bulbank and UniCredit Foundation. The funds raised by the employees are actually tripled by UniCredit Bulbank and UniCredit Foundation.

In 2011 the support of UniCredit Bulbank and UniCredit Foundation to the Bulgarian Red Cross totaled slightly above BGN 181 thousand.

Under the program “Hot Lunch” the Bank has provided the sum for 1,725 lunches for 25 children who returned to school and were fed throughout the school year.

UniCredit Bulbank has also supported the treatment of 8 children throughout the country with a donation of nearly BGN 4,300 to the National Donation Fund in support to children injured in traffic accidents.

UniCredit Foundation financed the project entitled “Home care for elderly people who are alone as a result of migration of their closest ones”. The total budget of the project is EUR 193 000, out of which EUR 83,664 were invested this year.

As a result, last year two centers were opened: “Home Care” in the towns of Dobritch and Smolyan, 14 jobs were created for nurses and home assistants, and 120 people from the two regions receive regularly professional medical care and social services. In addition UniCredit Foundation donated EUR 5000 to finance the salaries of two people from Home Care center in Lovetch for a period of 10 months.
