The Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of UniCredit Bulbank Levon Hampartzoumian was named CEO of the Year for CEE&CIS region in the annual Europe Banking Awards of the international financial publication EMEA Finance.

According to the magazine the the CEO of the Year highlights the sustainable leadership of an individual who has demonstrated excellence in banking. According to EMEA Finance to be eligible for the award the CEO should year-over-year been able to bring growth and innovation to the institution that he or she leads. Furthermore, the CEO of the Year is a person who inspires those he or she leads to be the best in the marketplace. “Levon Hampartzoumian certainly ticks all these boxes. We are proud to recognize him as our CEO of the year for Europe Banking Awards 2016.”, said Christopher Moore, Publisher & CEO, EMEA Finance.

About Levon Hampartzoumian

Levon Hampartzoumian is the CEO and Chairman of the MB of UniCredit Bulbank since 2001. He is also Member of the Management Board of BORIKA (Card Processing JV). He was Chairman of the Board of the Association of Banks in Bulgaria in the periods April 2005 - April 2008 and April 2011 - April 2015 and is currently a member of the Management Board of the Association. He is also a member of the Bulgarian Forum of Business Leaders and of the Management Board of the Institute for Market Economy. Since 2015 Levon Hampartzoumian is the Chairman of TELUS International Bulgaria Community Board, and since 2017 is a member of the Honorary Trust Board of the Duke of Edinburg’s international Award - Bulgaria.

Levon Hamparztoumian has been awarded with the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity (Ordine della Stella della Solidarietà Italiana) and is honoured with the title Commendatore of the Order with a Decree of the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano. He was also awarded the Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria. Among other awards are “Atanas Bourov” Foundation award for bank management, Manager of the Year by Manager Magazine, etc.

Hampartzoumian has a degree in Chemical Engineering and professional experience working for PriceWaterHouse Coopers and Earnst&Young. In the period 1999-2001 he was consecutively Deputy Minister of Economy and Executive Director of Sofia’s Privatization Agency.
