Christmas at UniCredit Studio

UniCredit Studio invites you to dive into the festively decorated gallery for contemporary art and to take part in the initiative Christmas at UniCredit Studio from 6th December to 11th January 2019. You will have the chance to enjoy ten of the most beautiful illustrations from the book Letters from Father Christmas by J.R.R. Tolkien and to have a Christmas photo shoot with family or friends.

Colibri Publishing House is a partner of the initiative Christmas at UniCredit Studio.

From 6th this month until 11th January 2019 you can visit the gallery for contemporary art UniCredit Studio (7 Sveta Nedelya Sq., Sofia) and use the Christmas decor to take a Christmas photo of yourself by your own smart phone.  Upload the photo on the Facebook page of the gallery for contemporary art UniCredit Studio with the hashtag #коледавстудиото. The ten photos that were liked the most will receive the Christmas book Letters from Father Christmas.

“We invited Christmas at UniCredit Studio because we really wanted to bring the cozy feeling of the holidays and the magic of Tolkien’s book together.  We can't wait to see the shared Christmas moments of the Studio’s visitors. We know for sure that Tolkien’s book would bring more joy to every home during Christmas,” said Dilyana Stoyanova, Director of UniCredit Studio and Senior Manager Corporate Giving and Events in UniCredit Bulbank.

The book Letters from Father Christmas tells the story of the author J. R. R. Tolkien.  Each year he used to send letters from Father Christmas to his children, written in spidery handwriting and decorated with beautiful colored drawings.

They told fascinating stories about adventures and tricks, about wars with goblins and feasts with elves.  The children would get even more excited by the way the letters were delivered - sometimes dropped down the chimney, or brought by the postman, or once even left in the dining room close to a mark of a snowy boot.

“You can be sure that when Tolkien acts as Father Christmas, true art is created! Letters from Father Christmas turns out to be one of the coziest and most exciting books. The moment I saw it for the first time I knew that this would be our Christmas book.  So, for a couple of years now, it has been bringing joy to children and adults alike,” explained Jacqueline Wagenstein, Publishing Strategies and Foreign Rights of Colibri Publishing House.

Each illustration, envelope and stamp in Letters from Father Christmas is created by J. R. R. Tolkien himself. They are a true piece of art and are included in the book together with the full text of the letters written between 1920 and 1943.
