The first round of the UniCredit PGA Professional Championship of Europe gets underway today

58 PGA Professionals from 24 countries will compete at Pravets Golf & Spa Resort in Bulgaria in the four championship rounds across 72 holes of strokeplay golf. Among them are the club professionals who promote and develop golf in Bulgaria, Scottish William Dow (Pravets Golf Club) and British Richard Lane (St Sofia Golf Club).

Defending Champion Hugo Santos (Portugal) also returns to Bulgaria seeking a record fourth win in the event after his 2011, 2012 and 2014 titles, with 2013 champion Federico Elli among his main rivals.

The PGA of Spain’s José Luis Adarraga has taken the early lead at the 2015 UniCredit PGA Professional Championship of Europe after carding a fantastic opening six-under 66. Only one shot behind is PGA of Sweden Professional, Christoffer Wahlgren. One further shot behind are four Professionals – Matthew Cort (PGA in England), Graeme Brown (PGA in Scotland), Joao Ramos (PGA of Portugal), and Craig Shave (PGA in England) – each carding four-under par 68s, well and truly in the mix.

The UniCredit PGA Professional Championship of Europe has been taking place in Bulgaria since 2011 with the support of UniCredit Bulbank and hosted by Pravets Golf Club.

On Saturday, October 17th, we will all know the name of the next European champion for 2015.
