UniCredit Studio Gallery and Art Gallery - Lovech: Exhibition by Toros Horysian of unique photographs of the Bulgarian seaside from the 60s visits Lovech

The local municipality and UniCredit Bulbank give us an exciting opportunity in the last winter days to indulge in dreams about the summer.

At the end of the winter season, Art Gallery – Lovech and UniCredit Studio present the exhibition The Sky that Talks to the Sea with photographs of the Bulgarian seaside from the 60s taken by the legendary Toros Horysian. By the end of March the residents and guests of Lovech can recall what our beaches were like 50 years ago.

The exhibition The Sky that Talks to the Sea will be opened today by the Mayor of Lovech Mincho Kazandzhiev, the Director of Art Gallery – Lovech Spas Dochev and the regional managers of UniCredit Bulbank Dimitar Sechanov, Retail Banking, and Georgi Goergiev, Corporate Banking.

"We are grateful to UniCredit Studio Gallery for providing the citizens and guests of Lovech with the opportunity to feel the sea breeze and the warm summer days even before spring time. This is possible with the exhibition The Sky that Talks to the Sea, which shows photographs of the Bulgarian seaside from the 60s, taken by the legendary Toros Horysian. We are glad that we can enjoy the art of the legendary photographer, who has 70 years of experience in photojournalism, has won many Bulgarian and international awards and has organized tens of exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. Let this first visit of UniCredit Studio be a step towards a good future collaboration", Mincho Kazandzhiev, Mayor of Lovech Municipality, said.

"A photo can be a real work of art when it manages to convey moods, to highlight characters or to depict intense natural and human life scenes that give the viewer aesthetic pleasure. This is what Toros Horysian shows us in his works. He shows us photography of high artistic value", Spas Dochev, Director of Art Gallery – Lovech, comments.

"UniCredit Bulbank is well positioned in the region. With its work the bank always strives to be of service to its customers and to support the business development not only in the capital, but also in Bulgaria as a whole", Dimitar Sechanov, Regional Director of Retail Banking – Pleven, said.

"Our support for the art is part of the mission of the largest bank in Bulgaria to give a chance to the beautiful and valuable around us to be brought to light just like the successful business projects that we implement with our clients", Georgi Georgiev, Regional Director of Corporate Banking – Pleven, added.

In The Sky that Talks to the Sea, Toros Horysian's camera flirts with every wave, every smile on the beach, every lock of hair that had flown frivolously in the wind. Each photo reveals its author's mastery. Technology pays its respects to the remarkable sense of photography which is unattainable without a soul dedicated to this art.

In honour of the mischievous shots of Toros Horysian, UniCredit Studio exhibits the summer collection in several series: "To me you are a sea siren", "Always together", "A trip to the sea with kids" and "Something more…". Out of respect the bank has kept most of the original titles of the photographs.

The series of photographs of the Bulgarian seaside taken by Toros Horysian in the 60s evokes anything but nostalgia and is a pleasant way to indulge in dreams about the summer during the cold winter days.
