Flight in Art awards of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation: The artist Nora Ampova is winner of the special award – a solo exhibition at the UniCredit Studio Gallery

The film director Pavel Vesnakov received the grand Flight in Art award

The artist Nora Ampova, nominated for the Flight in Art award for young artists of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation, received the special award of UniCredit Bulbank - a solo exhibition at the gallery for contemporary art UniCredit Studio.

Nora won because she is colourful, bright and eccentric. She experiments and often turns to the classics with all due respect and yet with a strong sense of curiosity for an innovative perspective. Her solo exhibition "Personal Venus" was presented in Sofia and Varna. Her works were included in the elite selections of the European Parliament and in the exhibition "Image and Likeness" - 77 self-portraits from the collection of Nikolay Nedelchev.

The special award in the competition of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation was handed by Luboslava Uram, Member of the Management Board of the bank and Director of Global Banking Services Division.

Yesterday at the exquisite ceremony the film director Pavel Vesnakov received the 2016 grand Flight in Art award "Stoyan Kambarev" . The 28-year-old man received the award because of his clearly pronounced cinematographic style. His film "Pride" won the grand award and also a nomination for the European Film Awards in Clermont-Ferrand, France – something that had never been achieved by another Bulgarian director. He received the bronze statuette, made by Kolyo Karamfilov, and a cash premium in the amount of 3 000 Bulgarian leva. The award was presented and handed by Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha together with Desi Tenekedzhieva, who is Chair of the Management Board of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation.

The prestigious nominations are given after an evaluation by the respected jury consisting of the 20 founders the Stoyan Kambarev Foundation. This year the nominees were Nora Ampova, Georgi Dimitrov-Zhozho, Kiril Buhovski, Denitsa Darinova and Pavel Vesnakov.

All nominees are given impetus for an even higher flight in art - they will receive support to realize some of their projects.

The awarding ceremony of the Art Award "Stoyan Kambarev" is part of the cultural calendar of Sofia.

The award given by Stoyan Kambarev Foundation, named after the unforgettable theatre director, has become the most awaited and prestigious distinction for young artists in Bulgaria. The peculiarity of this award is that it is the only one that is not strictly specialized in any particular art, but covers a wide range of talented young artists in different fields of art.

UniCredit Bulbank has been collaborating with the foundation for five years now as part of the bank's FOR Art programme, which is in support of Bulgarian art and culture.
