The foundation grants over EUR 200 thousand for scholarships to talented students.

Four Bulgarian universities have become partners of UniCredit & Universities Foundation. They are Sofia University “Sv. Sv. Kliment Ohridski”, the University of National and World Economy, the Higher School of Insurance and Finance and the Academy of Economics “Dimitar A. Tsenov.” The partnerships were made possible following this week’s meeting of Giannantonio de Roni, Secretary General of UniCredit & Universities Foundation and Annalisa Aleati, Scientific Director of the Foundation, with the rectors of the Bulgarian universities.

UniCredit & Universities Foundation, which was established in 2009, grants scholarships and specializations abroad to talented students, for a total amount of over EUR 200 thousand. Students of other universities in Bulgaria may also apply for a scholarship if they have interest in the fields of economics, political and social sciences.

The foundation offers scholarships in three major areas – support for studies, for research as well as for the organization of scientific seminars. This year 23 initiatives have been planned, including a special programme for studies abroad, focusing on countries which are not part of the Erasmus programme, an opportunity for a traineeship in banks of the group and scholarships for the best scientific reports. In 2013, 70 students and scientific researchers are expected to receive funding.

The application process, which is entirely online, starts in the middle of June – the beginning of July and usually ends in October.
