News

In the end, the attempted telephone scam was reported to the police, while the savings of the elderly man remained intact.

In case you need to withdraw money urgently, you should confide the reason for this decision to the bank employee, UniCredit Bulbank advises.

A UniCredit Bulbank employee prevented a telephone scam which targeted an elderly customer. The information regarding the case was shared by the daughter of the customer in the Facebook profile of Levon Hampartzoumian, Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of the Bank . The message therein describes the case and congratulates the bank employee for her flawless judgment and quick reaction. An internal check confirmed the extremely unpleasant, but in this case prevented, fraud attempt against a customer of the bank.

The phone scam involved a call to the elderly man, providing him with the information that money was needed urgently for a life-saving operation of his brother. The man went directly to a UniCredit Bulbank branch office with the intention to withdraw all of his savings. That was exactly what raised the doubts of the bank employee. Given that the daughter of the man is also a customer of the branch office, the bank employee did everything necessary in order to get in contact with her and thus to prevent the fraud attempt also with her help.

In the end, the attempted telephone scam was reported to the police, while the savings of the elderly man remained intact.

This is not the first time that UniCredit Bulbank employees have prevented a fraud attempt. Customers have been spared nerves, money and troubles. The competent authorities have released a resource for the investigation of other criminal offences.

UniCredit Bulbank advises its customers, upon deciding to urgently withdraw consumer credit or their savings, to confide to the bank employee the reason for that, in order to discuss options whether this decision is best for them.

The employees of the bank who work with customers not only have had numerous cases in their practice, but they also have at their disposal mechanisms for checking and quickly informing the police forces in case of a suspicion of fraud.
