Bulgarian Donor’s Forum Annual awards: UniCredit Bulbank’s employees have made the greatest contribution through voluntary work

The bank was also given a merit award for the most successful partnership for the joint project with UniCredit Foundation and Tulip Foundation.

UniCredit Bulbank’s employees have provided the most considerable support in different social causes through voluntary work during the past year. For a second consecutive year the bank received The Biggest Corporate Donor Annual Award within the category with the same name of the Bulgarian Donors’ Forum.

UniCredit Bulbank was given recognition as the greatest contributor through volunteering initiatives for the commitment of the bank’s employees, their active participation in the green initiatives and the charity bazaars which raise funds for various social causes on the eve of major holidays such as Christmas and Easter.

Last year more than 150 bank employees together with their families, including the Chief Operating Officer Andrea Casini, took part in the second edition of the Green Day of UniCredit Bulbank held on May 12th 2013.

Apart from the bank’s green initiatives more and more employees take part in the other traditional charity bazaars organized by the bank. The bank’s employees supported three causes at the Charity Bazaar organized in 2012 – Radost Orphanage in Dren village, St. Sofia Children’s Medical and Social Care Home and the construction of a children’s playground in Novi Iskar.

“We will continue to contribute to the promotion of more and more good social practices”, said Levon Hampartzoumian, the CEO of UniCredit Bulbank when he was given the award.

Apart from the category “The greatest contribution through voluntary work” at yesterday’s ceremony UniCredit Bulbank was also granted recognition for the most successful partnership for the joint project of the bank, UniCredit Foundation and Tulip Foundation.

During the past two years the Trust in the Family project received 100% funding by UniCredit Foundation after obtaining the largest number of online votes while competing with two other projects.

As the name itself implies the projects aims to maintain the integrity of families in risk and prevent putting children in care homes. This can be achieved by the so-called “family meetings”.

Since the project was launched two years ago by August 2013 more than 450 children and families have received support. None of the children in immediate risk has been put in a care home, has been punished or expelled from school. Children receive better care and the relationship between the children and their families have been cemented. Having a model is important for children since in this way they are placed in the center of attention, their opinion is respected and taken into account. Parents are satisfied with the programme because they not only receive information and support but also they are the ones who decide on the type of support they need and the way they will provide it for their children.
