How to protect yourself from bank card fraud?

News

Dear Customers,

The use of debit and credit cards is part of our everyday lives and we are increasingly making payments at online merchants with them.

In this regard, we would like to warn you about the increased risk of making payments with bank cards on the Internet and ask you to consider the following recommendations:

  • Be vigilant when making purchases from new and/or unfamiliar websites and online merchants that offer heavily discounted prices for goods and subscriptions.
  • Do not follow direct links on the Internet with offers, but first check that you are really shopping or subscribing on the site of the original online merchant and not one that looks very similar and imitates it.
  • Familiarise yourself carefully with the terms of delivery, the return procedure and the right of withdrawal. Check the information available about the merchant, as well as for opinions and recommendations from your family and friends.
  • Choose sites that are included in the Visa and MasterCard secure payment programs. Check to see if the site is secure by looking for a key or padlock icon as well as spelling out "https://" before the site address.
  • Keep your card details safe, do not give them to others and do not leave them unattended in public. Do not store the PIN with the card on paper or any other medium.
  • Do not provide third parties with the dynamic password you have received to confirm an online card payment. The notification from Bulbank Mobile with the dynamic password includes information about the merchant, amount and currency of the payment to which the password relates. Please review these details carefully (see where they are located here) before confirming the transaction by entering the dynamic password.
  • Avoid using free and public Wi-Fi networks when making card payments.
  • Monitor your account movements regularly and contact us if you suspect any irregularities.

If fraud, loss or theft of a card is suspected, contact the Customer Contact Centre promptly on 0700 1 84 84 (short number 1 84 84) or email: DbmmDfoufsAVojDsfejuHspvq/Ch/

Further recommendations and fraud prevention tips can also be found on the Bank's website.

Sincerely,

The team of UniCredit Bulbank
