Art black-white photographs of world famous celebrities are on display in UniCredit Studio Gallery of Modern Art from 17 to 30 September in the context of the Week of Photography – Sofia Photo Fest. The author of the exhibition is the world famous photographer Antonin Kratochvil. For the first time the Bulgarian public will be able to see his portraits of David Bowie, Jean Reno, Johnny Depp, etc. Along with the photographs of celebrities visitors will be able to see fine art and reportage photographs caught in the lens of the master of photography, Antonin Kratochvil.
The exhibition is named after the second book of Antonin Kratochvil – Incognito. Unlike his first book which was dedicated to the catastrophes, disasters and destruction in Eastern Europe, in this one he turns the camera at a completely different aspect of modern society – the entertainment industry.
Antonin Kratochvil has earned world recognition for his work and has been awarded numerous prizes which include the Photographer of the Year from the International Photography Center of New York. The American Photo magazine lists him among the most influential photographers in the USA. UniCredit Studio Gallery of Modern Art was opened in January 2012. The Incognito exhibition is the ninth one hosted by the gallery.
Bulgaria was selected among over 20 other European states to host the first UniCredit Studio following the creation of such a gallery in Italy. The mission of the studio is to present Bulgarian and foreign authors and to offer a platform for their works of modern art.
