The banking sector is in a process of revamping of the way we do business. Apart from improving our work, this will help us attract talented and young people to join our team. These are some of the comments made by Mrs. Teodora Petkova, Chairperson of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit Bulbank at the 2019 Banks and Business conference. She took part in the main panel discussion “An overview of the banking sector after the stress tests – challenges and main industry trends in the coming year”.
Teodora Petkova pointed out that an important indicator of the stability of the system is the capital adequacy ratio, which is above 20%.
“I believe that robots will help us do our job better and optimise the processes”, she commented. She added that banks will continue to develop partnerships with non-banking institutions. “I do not exclude the possibility that some banks may seek opportunities for consolidation”, said Teodora Petkova.
“The share of non-performing loans in the sector has been actively reduced in recent years. Overall, the banking system keeps going in the direction of constructive and conservative risk management so that it could be prepared for future steps and conditions”, added Teodora Petkova.
