Lilyana Pavlova, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works: The business and the government sector are one and we have to work together

The Regional Minister supported the idea of the Council of Women in Business, according to which the internship programmes and career orientation should start as early as during high school.

The business and the government sector are one and we have to work together in order to achieve more easily and effectively our goals. This was said by Lilyana Pavlova, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, during a meeting of the Council of Women in Bulgaria, at which she was a special guest. At the meeting Mrs. Pavlova received a certificate of honorary membership in the Council as a recognition for her achievements and successful career.

During the talks there was a discussion of the possibilities for cooperation between the government sector and the business. According to Minister Pavlova, only the full use of the resources of all sectors will make Bulgaria a better place to live in. The government and non-government sectors have to join efforts to encourage the development of the young people, she underlined. The Regional Minister supported the idea of the Council of Women in Business, according to which the internship programmes and career orientation should start as early as during high school.

"The spreading of good management practices and the introduction of programmes that foster the professional development of women in small and medium-sized business and their upward movement on the management ladder are among the main objectives of the Council of Women in Business," Dr. Eng. Boryana Manolova, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Bulgaria and Chair of the Council of Women in Business, explained.

"I support your ideas and initiatives and I think that each of us has to be an ambassador of the principles of good management", Lilyana Pavlova said. The Regional Minister also told some personal things about herself, such as how she had grown up surrounded by men and how that had affected the formation of her character.

In her words, her experience shows that women as a whole are much less susceptible to getting intoxicated by success and higher positions. As typical features of the women at high management positions, Lilyana Pavlova pointed out their responsibility and motivation to cope with any situation.

"In order for a woman to be successful, there should be a balance between her personal and professional life; when a person has the support of their closest people, things work out well", Minister Pavlova said at the end of the meeting of the Council.
