• One of the supporters registered until 4 May 2011 from Bulgaria on the website www.make-a-kid-smile.eu will get from the Bulgaria-based UniCredit Bulbank two tickets for the final of UEFA Champions League on 28 May 2011 in London.
With the Make a Kid Smile initiative, UniCredit decided to support a project uniting children through football. The project, which was officially approved by UEFA, underscores the social commitment of UniCredit related to the partnership of the banking group with UEFA Champions League.
For each person participating in the Make a Kid Smile initiative (www.make-a-kid-smile.eu), UniCredit Foundation will contribute 10 Euro for the humanitarian project Open Fun Football Schools. Detailed information on the project is available on the website of UEFA. The maximum contribution of UniCredit Foundation may reach up to 200 000 Euro. The campaign can be actively supported until 28 May 2011.
This was announced by Levon Hampartzoumian, Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit Bulbank, at a press conference today. The press conference was held together with the Bulgarian Football Union, represented at the event by the executive director Borislav Popov. „The Bulgarian Football Union has good experience in such kind of initiatives for children and it commits to provide assistance for the successful implementation, for the first time in our country, of the Open Fun Football Schools”, said Borislav Popov. The press conference was attended also by the coordinator of the Open Fun Football Schools for Macedonia, Mr. Tzeno Alexandrovski.
The ambassador of the campaign is the legendary Luis Figo, who is one of first “rejuvenated” participants in the initiative at www.make-a-kid-smile.eu through online morphing.
Anyone can join with a picture and participating is fun and easy: 1) a person uploads his/her portrait picture at www.make-a-kid-smile.eu as for best results it is recommended that on the picture the person is smiling; 2) the picture is morphed automatically and within a few seconds it is shown on the screen already morphed, the face being converted into a childlike face. For each uploaded picture UniCredit will contribute 10 Euro.
One of the supporters registered in Bulgaria until 4 May will be selected in a special lottery draw and will get from UniCredit Bulbank two tickets for the UEFA Champions League final in London on 28 May. The bank will cover fully the transport and accommodation costs for the winner and the person accompanying him/her.
"This idea shows that the social and sports engagement are the two sides of one and the same coin", said in a special announcement Mauricio Carrara, chairman of UniCredit Foundation. "We hope that lots of football fans will support us in this important project.”
In 2011, UniCredit will finance Open Fun Football Schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and the Ukraine through providing sports facilities, as well as it will provide funds for starting the project in Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Lithuania and Slovakia. The more people participate in the initiative at www.make-a-kid.smile.eu, the more funds will be contributed.
"We used the game, mainly football as a way of teaching young people loyalty, respect and team work”, says Anders Levinsen, founder of the Open Fun Football Schools project.
