On 17 November, at 18:00, in UniCredit Bulbank's space for contemporary art - UniCredit Studio, Nikolay Marinov will present his most recent creative series that inspired the artist’s latest paintings and poems. The event will bring together the exhibition Path of Inspiration and the premiere of his new poetry book - Friday Afternoon.
“Just hearing our predecessors’ voices in us is not enough. It's not enough to simply feel their presence at the threshold of our mind. No matter if we want it or not, we carry the new rhythm, new desire, new idea, new sorrow. It there a stronger trigger for the artist than that? Apart from everything else, the artist has the privilege to live beyond the visible everyday life, to see what others don’t; he is left with nothing else to help him let off steam than art”, shared the author.
Path of Inspiration is an exhibition that represents two cycles of the painter's art. Some of the paintings in the exhibition are in pastel, while others are painted with oil-paints. The techniques used show the stretch of the artist's imagination and bring us closer to the artists’ different perception of seemingly trivial events and casual encounters.
“A truly extraordinary painter and human having the incommensurable power of metaphoric image. He sees a jellyfish and it turns into an umbrella, a fish dreams of love and its body transforms into a mermaid, while fish swim across the ocean. Niki’s imagination falls in love with a simple object and this creates his enchanting talent for space and color, for recreation,” shared the American poet Richard Harteis about the author.
Nikolay Marinov is the author of 6 books of poetry, including Hunting in the Abyss, A Kangaroo's Jump, Spoken Words. His exhibitions are presented in a number of galleries, including Face in the House of Architects, Sofia, Tall Tales in the Parliamentarian's Club, National Assembly, Sofia, Father of the Rain, Cavalet Gallery, New York, and The Alexey von Schlippe Gallery of Art, New London (Connecticut).
