The bad weather in this first day of the 2012 UniCredit PGA Professional Championship of Europe not only wasn’t an obstacle but even added to the intrigue on the course of Pravets Golf Club. After numerous turnarounds and lots of difficulties last year’s champion – Portuguese Hugo Santos did make it to the second place scoring 4 under par, although he had to share it with Simon Edwards from Wales and Tomas Setterhill from Sweden, who no doubt felt at ease with weather so close to that in their home countries. Last year’s most serious opponent of Santos – Dutch Ben Collier ranked only 7th, scoring 2 under par.
After an amazingly good game, leader in today’s round became the representative of Spain Mikel Galdos scoring 5 under par. The Spaniard was among the first to start this morning and had leading score throughout the day, practically dictating the tempo of the game.
