Over 30% of requests for investment projects for SMEs are for construction of photovoltaic plants

The sharp jump in the price of electricity for businesses as a result of the current geopolitical situation and its effect on the cost of fuels and energy resources, motivates many business customers to seek alternatives to their energy needs. In response, there is a growing interest in the capabilities of photovoltaic systems. According to the experts of UniCredit Bulbank, small and microbusiness are interested in building photovoltaic facilities in a technical room (warehouses, industrial buildings, halls, etc.) and as a result of low maintenance costs and relatively fast returns. According to the bank, over 30% of the investment projects for small and micro enterprises (with revenues of up to BGN 2 million) are for the installation of photovoltaic plants, the average size of such a plant is approximately 70 kwp.

Experts also report the positive trends in the prices of solar panels (and RES in general), which have become steadily cheaper in recent years - an average of 11-12% annually for the past 30 years. According to the International Energy Agency, in 1990, the price was $ 8 per Watt, while now it is 30 cents, which is 98% cheaper. For even greater efficiency, experts in the field point to a combination of the photovoltaic system and installed batteries that support consumption in the hours when there is no sun. The downward trend in solar panels is similar for batteries, where in the last ten years alone, the price has dropped by almost 90%, from $ 1,200 to $ 132 / kWh.

"A positive trend is that we increasingly realize that solar energy is not only cleaner and does not harm the environment, but is also an affordable source, the price of which is lower than ever. Appreciating these positive oddities, as well as the conditions for solar energy production are above the European average, we would like to help our customers make the most effective decision for themselves. The financing of photovoltaic power plants by UniCredit Bulbank is an easy and quick solution, especially when the purpose of the investment is for its electricity consumption and the company has a sustainable and profitable activity ", commented director of Retail Banking and a member of the Management Board of UniCredit Bulbank.

The construction of a photovoltaic plant allows customers to reduce their carbon footprint while investing in a solution that provides predictable costs for electricity and predictable production for the next 20-25 years. In addition, UniCredit Bulbank offers the opportunity to finance up to 90% of the investment made at preferential price terms for financing by the bank. Furthermore, depending on the enterprise's activity, it is possible to use a guarantee program the bank applies as collateral for the loan.
