So far EUR 6500 have been raised and fundraising continues by the end of November.
Participants in the charity marathon 1000 Balkan Charity Challenge crossed the finish line in Romania in the late afternoon yesterday. Almost 80 people participated in the different stages of the initiative. For 7 days the participants in the marathon ran 65 km a day and thus ran all the way from Sofia to Bucarest.
The purpose of the 1000-kilometer charity marathon, going through Romania and Bulgaria, is to raise a maximum amount of collections for 18 causes of organizations from both sides. So far EUR 6500 have been raised and fundraising continues by the end of November.

The causes relating to Bulgaria were proposed and administrated by Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation. They include: Daycare center for children with disabilities St. scholarships for orphans and semi-orphans with excellent grades and Aleksandrovska Nursery Home for Elderly and Daycare Center (Bankya).
The oldest participant in 1000 Balkan Charity Challenge was 63 and the youngest one - 24. The initiator of the marathon, the CFO of UniCredit Tiriac Bank, Mr. Stanislav Georgiev was one of the participants; Before continuing his career in UniCredit Tiriac Bank, he held the same position in UniCredit Bulbank. Stanislav Georgiev has traditionally been committed to different social causes.
UniCredit Bulbank and the Romanian UniCredit Tiriac bank were supporting the charity causes in the marathon by covering all the organizational expenses of the initiative. On the territory of Bulgaria participants were escorted by a car provided by UniCredit Leasing.
