The Lighting Tools project re-focuses on primary tools that are common in general labour activities
Serdika underground will host the Lighting Tools exhibition of illuminated objects and drawings. The author Ivaylo Hristov, who is also a graphic designer at UniCredit Bulbank, presents his own works from the last two years. The exhibition takes place with the support of UniCredit Studio and the Museum of History in Sofia.
The Lighting Tools exhibition reveals a different perspective on objects/tools in everyday life. The common perception is that they serve as a means of increasing welfare through labour, following the example of the widely distributed texts from the past. Today, it is obvious that such propositions would not suffice.
Lighting Tools poses the question of the possibility to think of the object beyond the general understanding of it being “held in hand”, “useful” and “functional”. It is difficult to physically hold the illuminated tools for a long time, which eventually leads us out of their utilitarianism.
In the times we are living in, the human presence and work efforts give way to the autonomous effect of enhanced mechanisms, which brings about some serious questions concerning existence. The Lighting Tools project re-focuses on the primary, simplistic tools that are common in general labour activities, making them physically unfit for use. The aim is to find a further discourse in the perception of tools and equipment as something universal.
The Lighting Tools exhibition can be seen until October 4 at Serdika Underground, 16 Knyaginya Maria-Louisa blvd.
UniCredit Bulbank FOR culture
UniCredit Bulbank develops purposefully a programme supporting worthy cultural projects. The largest project of its own in this field is the opening of UniCredit Studio in January 2012. Since then it has organized many interesting photo exhibitions, providing young authors with the opportunity to exhibit their works.
