“Those who finally win are the dreamers who don’t give up“, was this year’s take home message from the CEED conference, affirmed by Filip Genov, First Vice President and Head of Special Projects dedicated to stat-up financing at UniCredit Bulbank. He took part in the conference panel called “The future through the eyes of investors“, and gave clear guidelines to start-ups that want to develop their business in Bulgaria.
“Good startups are in unison with innovations regardless of the sector they operate in“, the banker said. He underlined that UniCredit Bulbank is the first Bulgarian bank to step on the local market of complete startups.
“UniCredit is looking for original startups to finance. They must be oriented to the local business, but we would also support larger-scale projects, which have the intention to step on foreign markets as well“, the banker explained. He outlined a clear framework for investors, which gives a great probability of success for a startup.
According to him, the first question an investor should ask himself is “What am I going to do in this business and do I see success coming?“ “It matters because it sets a purpose“, Filip Genov explained. Then there comes the realistic evaluation of the development opportunities and how the product will be placed on the market.
According to the banker, then there comes also the tough decision of what to do with the earned money – to save or to invest. “We are trying to give the right directions so as to have an answer to these questions which ultimately lead to success or the opposite“, Mr. Genov added.
Filip Genov said he was optimistic about the future of the Bulgarian business environment. He thanked the investors and the entrepreneurs who chose Bulgaria as the place to develop their business. In his opinion this favors the development of successful startups in Bulgaria.
