19-years old Todor became winner after a close-run with Simona Petkova on her birthday

Todor Mladenov, 19 years old, is the winner of the first national UniCredit freestyle football tournament, which took place today under the portico of the Head office of UniCredit Bulbank in Sveta Nedelya Square in Sofia.

The 19-years old won the first place after a close-run with a lady – Simona Petkova. Simona who marks her 18-th birthday today, showed remarkable skills in working with the ball and overcame all other 14 contesting young men.

Third in the tournament came Enis Todorov, aged 14.

In total, sixteen talented freestyle football contestants aged between 12 - 21 competed for the title, demonstrating their remarkable skills with the ball.

The National UniCredit freestyle football tournament in Bulgaria marked for the first time in Bulgaria the world’s day for that sport. The event in Bulgaria was organized by UniCredit Bulbank, Sports Management Bulgaria and Turn the Tide Association – exclusive partner of the International freestyle football federation in Bulgaria.

By celebrating the Freestyle football day, that sport’s federation hopes to increase its popularity. Everybody who has played football has juggled with the ball. This is an easy and entertaining sport, largely looked at as entertainment by players and spectators, which has made freestyle football more and more popular worldwide over the last decade.

Everybody can joint in, all you need is a ball. The freestyle football is not only sports and art, but also a good way to stay in form“, explains Freestyle Football Federation President Daniel Wood. Wood expects around 300 thousand participants in the world to mark the day today.
