Students from the Italian Lyceum were granted scholarships by UniCredit Bulbank for their excellent academic achievements

The young people will receive a one-month training in Italy.

Two students from the National Educational Culture Complex with Lyceum for studying Italian Language and Culture are the winners of the annual scholarships “UniCredit Bulbank FOR education” for their excellent performance and academic achievements. After the school year ends, the scholarship will enable them to go and receive a training in Florence.

The winners Kalina Staleva and Maria Peeva officially received their diplomas, scholarship certificates and the documents regarding the training in Italy by Andrea Casini, Vice-President of the Management Board of UniCredit Bulbank and Velichka Velyanova, Director of the school.

“We are proud of the achievements of our students. The additional training in Italy confirmed its effectiveness for the development of the winners of the scholarship, which was granted for a second year. All the three scholarship winners from last year – Maraya Tsvetkova, Liana Evtimova and Gabriel Georgiev are among the six students from across the country, who became laureates of the National Olympiad this year. Furthermore, all of them were admitted to prestigious universities”, Velichka Velyanova informed.

Andrea Casini announced that UniCredit Bulbank will continue the program also in the next school year and complimented the school and the scholarship winners on behalf of H.E. Ambassador of Italy in Bulgaria Marco Conticelli.

“School and business are similar because of the fact that the successful and sustainable models are the ones that rely on meritocracy – assessment and rewards are given according to the achievements. For the success of one school it is very important how it is managed, who is the leader of the institution and what kind of management decisions he/she makes”, Andrea Casini said.

He shared that very recently an educational reform was introduced in Italy, which gives more powers, as well as responsibilities, to the directors of the schools.

FOR education

Providing scholarships for students with excellent performance is part of the program of UniCredit Bulbank “FOR education”. Investments in this field are of a high priority for the bank.

The biggest Bulgarian financial institution works actively in support of young people by collaborating with Teach for Bulgaria Foundation, supports and participates in the “Manager for a Day” initiative, etc. UniCredit Bulbank also works on the “My bank of the future” program together with the online platform www.kosher.bg. It is intended for students from different universities studying various subjects related to the banking business.

Besides the opportunity to work on projects, every year UniCredit Bulbank offers more than 400 university students the chance to get an internship at the bank. The bank also supported the “Get Ready 2 Work!” project. The purpose of the project is the integration and the active employment of disadvantaged young people on the labour market, via the implementation of successful educational models and programs for entering the labour market from Austria and Germany.

In addition, via the UniCredit and Universities Foundation, scholarships for Master’s degree in top international universities are accessible also in Bulgaria.
