UniCredit Bulbank: Digital channels are the main tool for payments to our customers
  • Almost 95% of all payments go through Bulbank Online and Bulbank Mobile

In response to the continuous improvement of digital services, more and more consumers prefer the possibilities of digital bank payments. The growth of costs through mobile banking Bulbank Mobile is clear proof of this. For the first quarter of 2022, the total amount of transfers through this channel increased by 37% compared to 2021. One of the most used features through the mobile application for payment of utility bills also marked a significant increase, as the amount of paid utility bills for the first three months of 2022 is almost 40% more than the previous year. The bank has made several improvements to the service to support this result, including expanding the list of utility providers, which already exceeds 500. According to the bank, in the first quarter of 2022, the average utility bill paid through Bulbank Mobile is BGN 70 which is 15% more than in the first three months of 2021, when a client paid an average of BGN 60.

In February 2022, at the national level, improvements in the payment system of Borika (Bisera 6+) came into force, which aimed at faster implementation of interbank payments in BGN. Before introducing the changes, the processing of this type of payment took place three times a day, in the interval from 8:00 to 17:00. At the same time, today, customers can order their transfer in the time range from 8:00 to 20:00, such as their payment will be made within one hour. As of April 2022, UniCredit has introduced an even faster process for its customers who order payments from the bank, sending them for processing every 5 minutes, further stimulating this type of transfer. For comparison, in the first three months of 2022, the number of interbank credit transfers in BGN ordered through Bulbank Mobile increased by almost 40%.

"In the digitalization of products and services in UniCredit Bulbank, we are guided by our understanding to offer the most efficient customer service. Our clients should start a process digitally and finalize it in an optimal short time without being worried about their money. We are happy to report significant growth in the use of the bank's digital channels, which is a clear indication that we are moving in the right direction, "said Victor Stoyanov, Director of Digital Channels and Third Parties

In 2021, UniCredit Bulbank introduced several new features in its mobile application, some of which offer more payment options, such as "International SEPA transfers" and "Mobile number transfer". These two new functionalities gave a strong impetus to transfers during the year and created an opportunity to develop remote payments further.
