A widely popular product is one created by initiative of students themselves - the overdraft covered by student scholarship.
UniCredit Bulbank funds nearly 300 students in its Academic League Programme which started at the beginning of last academic year in response to the specific financial needs of the academic community in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of 2014, young people aged between 18 and 25 have been granted consumer loans for a total of 1.6 million leva.
Great popularity is enjoyed also by the scholarship covered overdraft loan, according to the data of UniCredit Bulbank. This product is offered for the first time in Bulgaria and the idea for it has come from students from "My Bank of the Future" clubs, together with the online platform www.Kosher.bg. For the first six months of the year, the bank has also issued over 8,000 debit cards and nearly 400 credit cards to young people aged between 18 and 25.
Further to credit and payment products, the young are also focused on savings. The volume of attracted funds of UniCredit Bulbank clients aged between 18 and 25 has doubled compared to last year. Further to their savings held on deposit and savings accounts, young people are interested in investment products too. Since the beginning of the year, people aged up to 25 years have invested nearly 150 thousand leva in funds of Pioneer Investments.
Modula Programmes
For both professors and students based on their individual needs for transactions, the bank has created the programmes Modula Professor and Modula Student, which combine different products and services in a package offering better conditions. One of the options which can be used by students includes a debit card, with which withdrawals from ATMs of other banks is also free of charge, and there is an opportunity for the name of the university and student ID No. to be printed on the card itself.
The student loan can also be used for payment of tuition fees, travel abroad costs and other current costs. The interest rate is between 7 and 7.50%. The student loan can be utilized in tranches or by any other individual plan agreed upon in advance. The term of repayment of the student loans is between 10 and 12 years.
The special combination of products and services for university professors includes a current account with a debit card which allows free of charge withdrawals from all ATMs of other banks, 4 utility payments per month, a text message for withdrawal notification, as well as a credit card overdraft without annual service fees. Because professors are a client group who often seek different saving options, they can avail of the opportunity to receive up to 35% discount on the entry fee for investments in a Pioneer Savings Plan. The savings plan gives an opportunity for setting small amounts aside each month which will be invested in mutual funds based on the risk profile of the client.

Investing in education is high priority to UniCredit Bulbank. The biggest Bulgarian bank works actively to support young people. It cooperates with Teach For Bulgaria Foundation, and supports and participates in the Manager for a Day initiative. UniCredit Bulbank also works within the programme called My Bank of the Future. It is carried out jointly with the online platform www.kosher.bg and is intended for students from different universities and academic programmes related to the banking business.
