Hundreds of citizens and visitors to Veliko Tarnovo welcomed the UEFA Champions League Trophy in Veliko Tarnovo. The most precious trophy of European football arrived in Veliko Tarnovo today around noon, thanks to UniCredit – the official bank of UEFA Champions League. The municipal authorities of Veliko Tarnovo accepted gladly the invitation by UniCredit Bulbank for hosting the Trophy Tour and kindly collaborated in organizing the rich program of the event.

This is the second stopover of the Trophy Tour, presented by UniCredit in Bulgaria. The mayor of the city Daniel Panov, the regional director of UniCredit Bulbank for Ruse Toshko Rachev and the legendary Bulgarian football players Trifon Ivanov and Boncho Genchev opened the special event in Marno Pole park, organized by UniCredit with the support of Veliko Tarnovo municipality.

Later on during the day the citizens and visitors to Veliko Tarnovo were able to take pictures with the trophy in front of Tsarevets Fortress. On the occasion of the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour, the municipal authority granted free admission for students to Tsarevets Fortress and in the evening the Sound and Light Show, for which Veliko Tarnovo is famous, will be organized.

In Bulgaria, the UEFA Champions League Trophy is transported by a special double-decker bus. So far, this bus has passed around 5000 km in Europe to reach the football fans in five countries – Germany, Hungary, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria.

After Veliko Tarnovo, on October 22nd (Tuesday), the Trophy can be seen in Plovdiv from 12:00 until 18:00 h. in the Central Square and on October 23rd (Wednesday) – in the square in front of the municipal building in Stara Zagora.

UniCredit Bulbank welcomed the UEFA Champions League Trophy in Sofia on October 18th at one of the iconic places in the capital city – the park in front of Ivan Vazov National Theatre where the Trophy was displayed in a specially constructed tent. Representatives of UniCredit Bulbank and UEFA Champions League, as well as Fabio Capello, the official ambassador of UniCredit for UEFA Champions League and Robert Pires, the official ambassador for Bulgaria, opened the three-day event.

The UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour proved to be a huge success for UniCredit by building strong relationships with the fans over the years. So far, the Tour has been through 13 European countries, passing 10,500 km to reach more than 480,000 football fans and to give them the exceptional opportunity to take more than 116,000 photos with the iconic trophy.
