UniCredit Bulbank received the award for the largest contribution by the voluntary labor of employees at the the sixth annual awards ceremony of Bulgarian Donors' Forum. The jury of the competition awarded the bank for its initiative "UniCredit's Green Day", in which nearly 300 colleagues and their families participated. Host of the ceremony held on 2 Dondukov Str. was none other than the President of Bulgaria himself, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev.
The award was received for the bank by Giorgio Raviola, Head of Internal Audit Department of UniCredit Bulbank, who was an active participant in the initiative. The statue was given to Giorgio Raviola by Yasen Trifonov, a 1st-year student of Computer Sciences at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, winner of a golden and a bronze medal in Balkan championships in information technologies. Delivering the award, Yasen Trifonov wished himself that now receiving the support of socially responsible companies and foundations, he could one day be on the other side of corporate social responsibility and he himself could give support. Giorgio Raviola accepted the award with an invitation to Yasen Trifonov to join the team of the bank he was awarding for the largest contribution by the voluntary labor of employees.

In the current 2012 UniCredit Bulbank also organized its Green Day, this time for cleaning Vitosha in support of the national campaign of BTV "Let's Clean Bulgaria in One Day".
The initiatives are part of the National Green Programme of UniCredit Bulbank within which every year the bank fulfills environmental projects. When the programme started in 2008, almost 400 thousand sq.m of forests were planted near Stara Zagora and over 30 km of main tourist paths in Vitosha were restored - from Aleko Chalet to the village of Bistritsa along the rivers Yanchovska and Bistrishka.
In 2009 the bank financed the recovery of an eco-path near the village of Borino, near the rock phenomenon called the Devil's Bridge.
In 2010, UniCredit Bulbank, together with Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation, organized a competition for an environmental project, which was won by the National Parks Association – thus the bank financed with 5 thousand leva the buying of photo-traps used for observing animal species and tracking their habitats in six parks.
At the same time last year the bank started a large-scale initiative for stopping paper account statements and replacing them with electronic ones. Furthermore, for its advertising materials the bank already uses only recycled paper.
