The participation in Earth Hour is part of the National Green Programme of the bank.
UniCredit Bulbank will turn off the lights of 11 of its buildings during Earth Hour. On March 28, for one hour from 20:30 to 21:30, the bank will take part in the worldwide initiative through its locations in six towns and cities across the country – Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Burgas, Varna and Ruse.
This year, within the context of the global topics of climate change and sustainable development, WWF Bulgaria dedicates Earth Hour to the preservation of the rivers in Bulgaria. The most massive environmental event in the world in 2014 covered over 7000 towns and cities in 162 countries.
The participation in Earth Hour is part of the National Green Programme of UniCredit Bulbank. Within this programme, the largest bank in Bulgaria organizes green days during which the employees volunteer in activities like planting of trees and cleaning of various spaces and terrains.
As part of its consistent policy on environmental protection, UniCredit Bulbank has been using for years only recycled paper for its advertising materials and encourages its clients to give up their paper statements of account.
UniCredit Bulbank has started gradual placing of bike stands in front of its branches to encourage its employees to use this kind of transport to their work place.
Besides, the daily activity of the bank features many internal initiatives for conservation of the natural resources. Such initiatives are the recycling of printer cartridges, double-sided printing, automatic switching off of computer monitors, etc.
About Earth Hour:
Earth Hour, the global event organized by WWF against climate change, will take place on March 28 in 24 timezones. Cities, symbolic monuments, institutions, companies and houses around the world will turn off their lights. This year's campaign is under the motto "Use your power!" and is dedicated to the rivers in Bulgaria.
Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, and has since then become a tradition that takes place on the last Saturday of March.
