• The changes will be effective as of April this year
UniCredit Bulgaria doubles the period of paid leave for fathers - employees of the group in Bulgaria. The additional paid leave is valid after the birth and discharge of the child / children from a medical institution and in case of adoption of a child up to 5 years from the day of adoption. Until now, fathers who work under an employment contract with UniCredit Bulgaria have used the two-week paid paternity leave.
From April this year, at the request of the employee, the period that the father, employed on a contract with UniCredit Bulgaria, will be able to use paid leave of 4 weeks (30 calendar days). Maternity leave remains in the current amount, determined by the Bulgarian legislation of a total of 410 days.
Among the main priorities of UniCredit Bulbank is to be the preferred employer on the Bulgarian and European markets. The bank offers a number of social benefits, including health benefits, free time, career and life coaching, mortgages, support for maternity and paternity and other family needs, paid leaves, wellbeing programmes, etc.
"The past year has been challenging and difficult not only for our customers but also for our employees. That is why it is important for us not only to be a bank that is easy to bank with, but also to be a choice of employee-organization. For the management team of Unicredit Bulbank, colleagues are important and we want to care and support them both in times of difficulty and in happy events such as parenting. We hope that our colleagues will take advantage of the extended paternity to have more time and support the family for the things that matter in the moments that matter", commented Andrea Tognetti, Human Resources Director at UniCredit Bulbank.
UniCredit supports its employees during maternity and paternity in all markets in which it operates. The Group has set a Group-wide minimum standard for parental leave across all its markets with mothers offered at least 16 weeks of paid leave and fathers offered at least 4 weeks on a voluntary basis. The policy also applies to adoption in accordance with local laws and regulations.
“We are strongly committed to consistently working to improve the welfare of our people across the Group. We want to support our colleagues throughout the different phases of their life and career. The challenges we are faced with in this critical period have further highlighted the importance of support to our employees and their families, which we continue to actively work on with additional initiatives.", commented Paolo Cornetta, Group Head of Human Capital at UniCredit.
