UniCredit Foundation, Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) and UniCredit Bulbank opened officially the Home Care Center set up in Smolyan.

Apart from the one in Smolyan, a home care center has also been established in Dobrich and the total cost of both projects is TBGN 377, provided entirely by UniCredit Foundation. These funds will ensure the functioning of the centers in the next two years. The setting up of two centers where qualified specialists will take care of elderly people who have been left alone in result of emigration of their friends and relatives started in March this year.

The setting up of home care centers in Smolyan and Dobrich is part of a large-scale Migration Programme implemented by UniCredit Foundation in the countries in Central and Eastern Europe. The programme aims at increasing the awareness and support with regard to any issues arising from migration.

„We are thankful to UniCredit Foundation for supporting our idea for creating a Home Care Center with the help of which we would be able to provide to 51 elderly people in Smolyan the care that they need with a qualified team”, said Dr. Todorovska, Deputy Director General of the Bulgarian Red Cross. She explained that Smolyan was selected as a town for setting up such a center because this region is one of the most affected ones by the migration processes.

The setting up of the home care center in Smolyan is the greatest proof that the bank abides by its mission to provide support to the local communities where we work”, said Ivan Geshev, Regional Director of Retail Banking at UniCredit Bulbank in Plovdiv.
