UniCredit Foundation donated BGN 6,000 to the non-governmental organization Maria's World. The donation was made following the sixth edition of the Initiative “Your choice, your project”.

An electronic vote was conducted within one month among the employees of UniCredit Bulbank for the selection of one out of 5 inspiring causes that support social entrepreneurship in Bulgaria. The contestants were: Maria’s World, Idea Organization, Friends of the Sea Marine Club, Animus Association, Eyes on Four Paws Foundation. 1/3 of the employees that voted supported the social enterprise Maria's World.

The Initiative “Your Choice, Your Project” is part of the program for supporting social entrepreneurship. It is realized in cooperation with Bulgarian center for non-for-profit law. Supporting social entrepreneurship is a strategic goal for UniCredit, not only in Bulgaria, but in all European countries where the bank is represented, too.   The development of entrepreneurial spirit in the non-governmental sector will result in sustainability and independence of the organizations that want to offer social care.

Maria's World improves the quality of life of young people with intellectual disabilities and the life of their families. The goal of the organization is to develop professional catering services and involve people with intellectual disabilities in the process of preparing and serving the food.

We, at UniCredit Foundation, are extremely happy that we have the opportunity to support projects and initiatives for development in all twenty countries where UniCredit is represented.  It is important for us to support activities contributing to the sustainable development in the various countries. We do this together with local non-governmental organizations”, said Anna Cravero from UniCredit Foundation during the event.

I am deeply grateful to UniCredit Bulbank, UniCredit Foundation and the Center for Non-for-profit law.  I hope that we will continue working together in order to develop the social entrepreneurship in Bulgaria,” said Sonya Spassova, Maria’s World Day Care Centre Manager after the presenting of the cheque.
