Bulgaria was selected from over 20 European countries to host the first UniCredit Studio in CEE;
The gallery is situated in the center of Sofia in one of the UniCredit Bulbank branches ,in 12, Kniaz Alexander 1-st Str.
UniCredit opens the latest gallery of contemporary art in our country – UniCredit Studio. Bulgaria is selected from over 20 European countries to host the first UniCredit Studio in Central and Eastern Europe following the creation of the gallery in Italy.
What distinguishes UniCredit Studio from other galleries is the fact that it will present only works by young artists and curators.
“UniCredit Studio was created as a network of exhibition space in the countries where UniCredit is present in order to draw attention to young artists. In this way we give a chance to artists, who have not been presented in private galleries, of being noticed and appreciated,” explains Jean-Claude Mosconi, Head of Artistic and Culrural Advisory of UniCredit. He arrives in Bulgaria for the opening of the first UniCredit Studio in CEE.
Galleries of the UniCredit Studio network are opened in UniCredit branches and in Bulgaria the host of the initiative is UniCredit Bulbank’s Business Center in 12, Kniaz Alexander 1-st Str. (in front of the Post Office).
The choice of this place is determined by the fact that it is conveniently located in the center of the city and it is also very close to the well-established Sofia Gallery of Fine Arts. In addition, the building is characterized by beautiful architecture and it is a monument of culture.
“UniCredit Bulbank is honoured to open UniCredit Studio not only because of the fact that Bulgaria was selected among over 20 European countries but also because the project will place the focus on young Bulgarian artists”, says Levon Hampartzoumian, Chief Executive Officer of Chairman of the MB of UniCredit Bulbank.
The first UniCredit Studio will open in Sofia with the exhibition “Bank of the Future” with curator Vera Mlechevska. The exhibition is dedicated to the perception of time and two out of the four young artists are Bulgarians – Bora Petkova and Stanimir Genov. Apart from them Agneshka Curant (Poland) and Keydjimuro Suzuki (Japan) will also present their works specifically created for the event.
The exhibition “Bank of the future” will be open to the public from 12 January until 4 March 2012, free of charge.
