UniCredit signed 2 strategic bancassurance agreements with Allianz and Generali for CEE

News

UniCredit signed two strategic bancassurance agreements with Allianz and Generali for Central and Eastern Europe for the distribution of insurance products for individuals and small enterprises in Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

These partnerships combine UniCredit’s strong banking franchise with the insurance expertise of the partners. They will come into effect after the second half of 2018 in accordance with all of the local regulations.

The focal point of the partnership with Allianz will be life insurance and general insurance, while that of the partnership with Generali will be the protection of payments made under credit products.

‘’These partnerships will cement the leading position of UniCredit in the region as well as the competences for which our partners are known by offering terrific services to our individual and small business clients,’’ said Carlo Vivaldi, the Head of UniCredit for Central and Eastern Europe.

‘’The clients of UniCredit will be able to take advantage of our rich experience and the growing demand for life, health, property and accident insurance in Central and Eastern Europe. Now we can protect these clients during key moments in their lives. We are very pleased that UniCredit chose Allianz as its partner for providing insurance solutions to its clients and this partnership is a testament to our successful strategy in the region,’’ added Petros Papanikolaou the CEO for Central and Eastern Europe

‘’In this region more than 12,5 million clients rely on the strength and support of Generali, whenever they need a dependable insurance partner. We are the pioneers on the market and also one of the biggest insurers in this region and we are proud to give our support to the clients of UniCredit through many kinds of special as well as tried and tested insurance solutions.’’ said Luciano Cirina CEO of Generali for CEE, Austria and Russia.

Central and Eastern Europe is a market that shows considerable growth in terms of the insurance industry. The percentage of penetration is quite lower than that in Western Europe.  Bank insurance is expected to be an important channel for distribution, which would also help achieve a greater degree of penetration in the following years.

The strategic partnership concerning the insurance for protection of payments on credit products of the Bank is outside the scope of UniCredit Bulbank. The signing of the local agreement between the companies in Bulgaria is scheduled for the coming months.
