UniCredit Bulbank invests in the development of IT specialists thanks to a strategic partnership with the Technical University of Sofia. The training, which is already included in the full-time Bachelor’s programme, is practically oriented and has been developed by the specialists in the IT team of the financial institution. In the computer room equipped by UniCredit Bulbank the students will have the opportunity to test what they have learned in practice. The training under the programme is planned to end with solving a practical case.
The opening of the technology room marked the official beginning of the strategic partnership between UniCredit Bulbank and the Technical University of Sofia. Among the guests of the event were Andrea Tonietti – Director of People and Culture and Member of the Board of UniCredit Bulbank; Mario Colari – Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Board of UniCredit Bulbank; Daniel Jolev – Deputy Director of Digital and Information Technologies; Ass. Prof. Dr. Engineer Rosen Radonov – Vice Rector of Electronic Management; Prof. Dr. Engineer Ognyan Nakov – Dean of the Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies, representatives of the academic management of the Technical University of Sofia and students.
Andrea Tonietti expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to transform the relationship with the University into a strategic partnership. In his address to the students, he said: „Information technologies are part of the past, the present and will be part of the future of our Bank and the financial sector. I therefore encourage you to be curious, not to approach new things with prejudice and to try to learn as much as possible from our colleagues through the Digitalization in Banking programme and this amazing computer lab“.
„The purpose of the programme is to show how a classic bank goes through different stages of digitalization to present how technology changes products and the customer experience,“ Daniel Jolev said in turn. He added that approximately 300 IT specialists in 40 fields take care of the development and maintenance of the normal functioning of the banking activity.
In his message to the students, Prof. Ognyan Nakov, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies, said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to introduce you to a new educational environment. Firstly, in the literal sense of the word and secondly, as a way of teaching - together with business."
The training programme for Digitalization in Banking and the equipment of the hall with the same name at the Technical University of Sofia is a continuation of UniCredit Bulbank's commitment to support education. Just a month earlier – in February, as part of UniCredit Bulbank’s strategic partnership with the University of Economics of Varna, a shared Coworking Space for students was opened.
