News

UniCredit Bulbank supported the holding of a charity football match between Bulgarian MPs and politicians and their Italian colleagues by covering the travel costs of the Bulgarian teams and media representatives to Italy.

The match was held at the Adriatico stadium in the Italian city of Pescara on 6 November.

The purpose of the charity match was to raise funds for the Fund for Restoration of the Damages of the Devastating Earthquake in 2009 in Abruzzo Region. They will be used to build a multifunctional centre in one of the worst-hit cities, Camarda.

Such charity initiative will be held in our country next year.

The Bulgarian football team was formed by MPs, politicians and athletes, including national representatives Alexander Nenkov, Ivo Dimov, Zhivko Todorov, Ivan Bozhilov, Ventsislav Vurbanov, Dimiter Choukarski and Borislav Stoyanov, Sliven Mayor Yordan Lechkov and Todor Krustev, Mayor of Sofia’s Serdika Borough.

At the stadium our team was cheered up by representatives of the Bulgarian community in Pescara.

Within its mission of supporting the local communities at the place of residence and work, UniCredit donated over 1 million euro to the victims in Abruzzo in the beginning of 2010. The Group developed a special plan on coordinating its activities with other organizations, which assisted the victims, such as Doctors without Borders and the Red Cross.
