The sponsorship of the Group now extends to UEFA Europa League, the finals of UEFA Futsal Cup, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Women’s Champions League and UEFA Youth League;
The partnership with UEFA in the first five years resulted in return on costs of more than 225%.
UniCredit will be the official bank of UEFA until 2018. This was announced in Berlin by Federico Ghizzoni, Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit, shortly before the final match between the champions of Italy and Spain – the football colossi FC Juventus and FC Barcelona.
UniCredit remains an official bank of the most prestigious football championship in Europe, but the sponsorship now extends also to UEFA Europa League, the finals of UEFA Futsal Cup, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Women’s Champions League and UEFA Youth League.
"We are proud to be the official bank of all UEFA competitions. Regarding the brand image, so far the partnership has had a positive effect in most of the countries where UniCredit operates. More than 300 initiatives have been carried out across our markets and we expect to be able to reach even more football fans in Europe", Federico Ghizzoni said.
The partnership with UEFA during the first five seasons has generated return on costs of more than 225%. UniCredit's support for the football tournament has made the bank more recognizable and well positioned among the larger part of the population. The bank has achieved very good results in relation to the sponsorship; the Group has exceeded the expectations in terms of 'brand awareness', 'brand image', 'customer and employee engagement' and 'propensity to buy'.
"After six successful years of sponsorship, we are delighted to be able to continue and extend our partnership with one of the leading banks in Europe, UniCredit. It is on them that we rely in order to reach out together to a larger audience across their markets in Eastern Europe", Guy-Laurent Epstein, Marketing Director of UEFA Events SA, commented.
During the next season of UEFA Champions League, UniCredit will enable up to five children to accompany the referee onto the pitch ahead of every match of the tournament. Besides, UniCredit will organize the traditional UEFA Champions League European Trophy Tour. If the final of UEFA Europa League is played in any of the countries where UniCredit operates, the Group will organize also the UEFA Europa League Trophy Tour.
In the last five years, UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour, presented by UniCredit, reached more than 66 cities in 14 European countries, and a total of over 500,000 fans experienced the incredible football atmosphere and took more than 146,000 photos with the trophy. Twice so far, the Bulgarian fans too have had the great opportunity to see and take pictures with the UEFA Champions League trophy.
