UniCredit managed to deliver the forecast net profit of EUR 2 billion for 2014

The financial results are positively influenced by the traditionally strong performance of the business in CEE.

UniCredit managed to deliver the forecast net profit of EUR 2 billion for 2014. The leading European banking group, whose shares are freely traded on the Milan stock exchange, will pay dividends of 12 euro cents a share. This became clear today after the Group’s Board of Directors accepted and announced the preliminary financial results for last year.

UniCredit, represented in Bulgaria by UniCredit Bulbank, is the biggest Italian bank in terms of market capitalization and is among the top European banking groups. It has been included in the list of the 33 systemically important financial institutions in the world.

“Despite the difficult economic environment, we managed to fulfill the targets for 2014. Throughout the year we worked for development of the economy in all countries where the Group is present. We see a significant increase in household lending, as well as support for our corporate clients in expanding their businesses on the international markets”, commented Federico Ghizzoni, CEO of UniCredit. He further specified that UniCredit is one of the most stable European banking groups, which shows good results owing to the strict following of its Strategic Plan.

His words are supported by the fact that UniCredit has already granted over EUR 7.7 billion as company loans under the ECB programmes in support of the business.

A positive contribution to the achieved financial results comes also from the traditionally strong performance of the business in CEE, which is a strategic region for UniCredit. The official statement of UniCredit says that the challenging geopolitical and macroeconomic environment in Ukraine and Russia have imposed an even greater strictness in terms of cost management.
