News

The Group's Core Tier 1 Ratio is above 9%.

The latest assessments by the European Banking Authority and Bank of Italy show that UniCredit continues to maintain strong capital positions. The Group's Core Tier 1 Ratio is above 9%. This shows the capability of the bank group to ensure its lending activity, trade in financial instruments, etc.

“These results are well above the requirements of the regulators and confirm the strength of UniCredit to execute the capital strengthening measures through active management of Market RWAs”, Federico Ghizzoni, CEO of UniCredit, commented. He added that these results show that UniCredit is a major European commercial bank with rock solid indicators.

UniCredit managed to increase its capital adequacy indicators after the successful capital increase conducted at the beginning of the year. In January 2012 almost 100% of the new shares were subscribed and 7.5 billion euro were raised from the market.

After the successful capital increase, UniCredit became the best capitalized Italian bank and met the increased capital requirements to systemically important banks, to which it belongs.

The list of 29 systemically important banks was approved by G-20 leaders during their meeting in November 2011. It includes 17 European, eight U.S. and four Asian banks and is reviewed annually in November.
