- The support for UNWE is part of the Bank's partnerships with Bulgarian universities in a joint effort to unlock the potential of young people
The CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of UniCredit Bulbank, Tzvetanka Mintcheva, who is a graduate of UNWE and a member of the Alumni Board, gave a public lecture to students and lecturers on the topic of the world of finance: the value of success or the five constants in the formula for effective leadership. The event was part of the official opening of a new shared space that is built in the library of the university with the help of a donation from UniCredit Bulbank.
"I thank the university for what it has given me because the foundations of my education, which I had the opportunity to complete and upgrade afterwards, actually began at UNWE," shared Tzvetanka Mintcheva. She added that for her the formula for success has many variables that depend on preparation, timing or luck but there are also constants, such as education that are the foundation of being successful. She also emphasized the key importance of life learning.
Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov shared that the present lecture, as well as the opening of the new shared space donated by UniCredit Bulbank to the university, are only part of the activities in which UNWE and the Bank cooperate. The two organizations jointly created the Master's programme in Quantitative Finance, organize public discussions, lectures and many other initiatives of mutual interest. "UNWE and businesses work together in the name of students, so that young people can be competitive and meet the requirements of the employers and the challenges of the time", commented Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov.
The event was attended by Andrea Tognetti, Director of People and Culture and member of the Management Board of UniCredit Bulbank, Martin Petkov, member of the Board of Trustees of UNWE and employee of UniCredit Bulbank, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Lilyana Valcheva, Chairperson of the Council of Trustees of UNWE and Chairperson of the Higher Education and Science Trade Union at CITUB and Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies.
After the public lecture, the official event continued with the opening of the shared space in the library of the university by prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and Tzvetanka Mintcheva.
“Reading nations are economically more prosperous. A study carried out a few years ago shows that if the negative trends in reading are changed and the literacy of the population in our country is increased, the GDP can be increased four times. Investments in reading and literacy are investments in the future," said library director Petar Petrov.
The Bank's donation is part of the financial organization's strategy to support universities. The mission of the initiative is to support educational institutions in the process of education and students in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values they need to cope in a changing society and work environment by unlocking their full potential as future leaders with professional and public contributions.
